Sept. 15th DFL Gubernatorial Straw Poll Results

September 15th was a night of ranked choice voting education across the city of Minneapolis as the Minneapolis DFL held educational forums to give Minneapolis the opportunity to practice voting using the new voting system and to see how the votes are counted first hand.

Margaret Anderson Kelliher won the city-wide straw poll with 55% of the votes in the "instant" runoff. RT Rybak was the runner up with 45% of the votes. These two candidates also placed first among first choices in round 1.  John Marty placed third in round 1 with 12% of the votes and remained the third favorite through the end of the count.

Results of the straw poll are posted on the Majority Rules event website at: http://www.majorityrulesmpls.org/.

The media helped bring the event to those who couldn't attend. See coverage at the Star Tribune and KSTP (scan through the videos until you see the RCV materials, about 2 minutes into the video).

The 5th Congressional District Green Party also conducted a straw poll of candidates running for municipal office. See results here.
