Corcoran uses RCV to decide favorite in anti-graffiti contest
At National Night Out, Corcoran Neighborhood Association peddled 24 anti-graffiti art designs around the neighborhood and gave residents an opportunity to cast a ballot for the favorite designs using Ranked Choice Voting. It was the Association's way to combine two neighborhood goals - to get residents involved in fighting graffiti and to educate them about this year's ranked-choice voting elections in Minneapolis. Residents got to ranked their favorite designs in order of their preference - 1st choice, 2nd choice, 3rd choice, etc.
"The project was a big success and a lot of fun," according to FairVote MN volunteer Nancy Beach, who was part of the art caravan. "Residents really took the voting seriously and filled out their ballots. We didn't have time to make it to all the parties in the neighborhood".
Residents will have the opportunity to view the designs and continue to vote at the Susan Hensel Gallery (just a few doors from the Neighborhood Association offices on Cedar Avenue) until the winner is announced on August 15th.
